Literacy/Biliteracy Camp, Director

Children need many opportunities to read and to be read to! In doing this, children are developing and practicing many, many skills, and their reading and writing is accelerated. In addition, we must create an environment that is full of meaningful print and where they hear a variety of literature. In essence, they learn to love books and as a result they develop the desire to read on their own.

My passion has always been education. One of the top goals for my students is to help foster a love of learning and instill a desire to be a lifelong reader…oh the places we can go with a good book! I was born and raised in Iowa; however, El Paso has been our home now for over 30 years. While my husband and I still miss the snow, the Mississippi, and the gorgeous green rolling hills, we have found another kind of majestic beauty here in El Paso with the mountains and the diversified culture. I am a teacher at Eastwood Heights in the Ysleta ISD. Be the best that you can be and you will go far!
